While it’s only week two, I’ve already learned that being flexible on the training schedule is a must in my life! Yesterday was a scheduled 45 minute run, and today was supposed to be my off day. In reality, yesterday turned into my off day, and today yielded a 3.5 mile run, ALONE! I’ve also learned that when I have the opportunity to go for a run, I need not “ask” the family, I just need to do it. Today, I got cut from work early, got home about 12:45 and told the boys (Rich included) “Mommy is going for a run at 2:00. Whatever you need from me, get it now”. haha. Sounds a bit harsh, but on very few occasions, for my own sanity, I need to put myself first. Running is that occasion. And if I don’t make it a “no questions asked” type of thing, it is likely I’ll get distracted, and it won’t happen.
Anyway, it was a good run. While running I was averaging about an 8:40 pace. And that pace feels really good…besides the fact I have to take about 20-30 second walk breaks about every half mile (sometimes a little less). I know that will pass soon as I keep building my endurance. I try to go slower, as I feel like I can go longer if I could run slower, but I think my legs are too long. haha. No really, I try to slow down and it just feels awkward, I dunno.
