I’m exhausted, but thanks to an 8 hour drive which the kids probably slept, oh, 6 hours of….no one is going to sleep anytime soon. *sigh*. But it’s a perfect time to blog I guess!
Week one of training is done. It wasn’t 100%, but it’s ok. My sister’s bridal shower was on Saturday in Washington D.C. , and between last minute errands/planning/shopping/etc for the shower, and of course , travel, Thursday’s run didn’t happen. C’est la vie. Saturday morning, however, I was able to join in for Cancer to 5k’s first training run for their spring session (did i mention, Saturday morning after 3 hours …yes 3 single hours of sleep? ahh toddlers…) It was just an easy 20 minute run at Bluemont Park in Arlington, but it felt great. Garmin didn’t come along for the trip (left him in the suitcase) but it felt to be maybe a 9:00 ish pace. I ran with a group of participants in the program, and having someone to talk to was flipping fantastic! Such a nice change from running by myself all the time. I especially enjoyed the conversation with a fellow mom-of-a-two-year-old named Jennifer, who is a self proclaimed “obsessed” runner. She became hooked after quitting her job to stay at home with her daughter, and promised her husband she wouldn’t be “one of those fat moms”. I related to her instantly, and as any mom can tell you, we can talk about kids forever. Anyway, the 20 minutes was up in what felt like 2 minutes , and I wasn’t even getting started. I love that! It feels really good to be getting my running legs back (kinda like sea legs…only better) .
The rest of the weekend was a whirl-wind of bridal showers, bachelorette parties, lots of laughs, and lots of time spent on I-95. I am utterly exhausted. I don’t think I’ve been this tired since I brought Kain home from the hospital. Traffic court tomorrow morning, to apologize to a judge for allowing my car registration to expire (oops) and hope he takes pity on me and slashes the $155 ticket in half, then off to work. Somewhere I will squeeze in some cross training. Never a dull moment! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!
