Jari Love kicked my a$$ once again today in cross training. BUT I did manage to do a few more push ups in her crazy set-of-70 push up sequence. OK they were the modified girly style, but whatever. I have had the weakest upper body as long as I can remember. The summer between 6th and 7th grade I went away to Conservation Camp (basically hunters safety/outdoor survival camp for teenage girls…hey I grew up in Vermont). Anyway, I remember clearly the counselors making fun of me because I could not pull back the compound bow, even when it was set on the lightest weight. Good thing they fed us in the cafeteria and didn’t make us actually hunt for food, I probably would have starved, haha. Anyway, I have this goal of one day being able to do 20 real push ups in a row. For some that may seem like nothing, for me, it’s like approaching mount Everest. I’m telling you, I’m that weak…it’s a surprise I can haul around my 19 lb baby, haha. Anyway, I’ll keep ya’ll updated on that progress 😉
Week number two has officially begun. Fundraising wise, I am at 28% of my goal ($274.80) thanks to a handful of great friends with big hearts. THANK YOU FRIENDS!! It’s still early and I’ve talked to many people who are planning to donate in the future, and for that I give you an advanced THANK YOU FRIENDS!! You all are the best. I’ve never done any big time fundraising on my own…only as a part of larger groups. So I am eagerly brainstorming fundraising ideas to reach my $1,000 goal other than constantly barraging my facebook with donation requests (although it has worked so far, and is for an AWESOME cause, I’m sure it will start to get a tad irritating to my patient friends!). So those of you who have done TNT or other fundraising, I’d LOVE to hear your suggestions! I’m hoping to “donate” one of my bartending shifts at work…basically everything I earn that night I will donate towards the cause. I will probably wait to do that towards sometime mid summer when we are much busier. Because this time of the year, it may only yield a hand full of dollars!!! Come on, tourists!!
Anyway, still debating the Race for the Inlet 5k this Saturday in Murell’s Inlet…we will see if tomorrow’s shift at work yields an extra $25 for the race fee! And if I can get anyone to join me to watch the kids…since I pretty much promise I can’t leave the kids with Rich at 6 am on a Saturday, hahaha
