Ahh it was a sight to behold (especially for my neighbors, who already question my sanity). I pulled into the driveway, leaped out of my car, and lobbed my backpack across the backyard like it was a jart (remember those? Lawn darts? Grandma never let us play with them, for fear of someone losing an eye…or getting speared) I skipped in a circle around the house, fueled by sheer giddiness and relief.
But my days in Vermont are not canceled completely. I have a hotel that’s been paid for, a running friend expecting me to pick her up at the airport, a bachelorette night on the town with couple of wonderful ladies I grew up with scheduled, and most importantly, a grandma who is patiently waiting for her two grandsons to make their way up North to spend the weekend while their mommy gallivants around the city of Burlington. There’s no canceling this trip all together.
So after a little surfing of the Run Vermont website, I found an amazing compromise. I joined a 2 person relay team for this race. I am now a part of the Fletcher Allen Health Care charity running team. 13.1 carefree, pressure free miles. I’ve been paired up with a woman named Christine, who will be running her very first half marathon ever. How cool is that? Lemons to Lemonade my friends. Not only am I fundraising for a good cause, but I get to be a part of someone else’s first ever half marathon. It’s going to be a good, good day!!
I have a mini little fundraising idea planned, but first, I need to wrap up the loose ends of the last fundraiser I did (school WAAAY interfered with that, uggh I’m not as good at multitasking as I may appear) . But in the meantime…if everyone one of my readers donated $1.00, I’d way exceed my minimum fundraising amount of $350! So there you have it. One long overdue rambling blog post. Lucky you, I’m on summer vacation and can ramble freely and daily for the next 14 weeks, woohoo!
Next stop: Chicago. Watch out Windy City…I’m coming for you. It’s time to see what this running mama is made of…
