One of the things I just adore about the dailymile community is the massive amount of support. Complete strangers are there to give you a high five for an awesome accomplishment, a virtual hug after a horrible race. Advice and friendship flourishes over there. But now, it’s time for us to reach OUTSIDE of our community this Thanksgiving, and support others who need our help.
Join us for the Virtual “Feed the Turkey” 5k!
Here’s what you do: Visit the website here http://www.dailymile.com/turkey_trot
1) Tweet, Facebook, or blog that you are participating (easy buttons on the site!)
2) Pick a donation amount. $1, $5, or $10. Everything helps! (donations made securely with paypal)
3) On Thanksgiving day, run (walk, bike, trot, skip) a 5k – anywhere! Dailymile will pick a few lucky winners to hand out prizes. Everyone will win a “I earned my turkey!” printable participation certificate. If you want to be competitive, join the official challenge on dailymile
Why Trot? dailymile says: For that warm fuzzy feeling when you donate to charity… oh, and approximately 351 calories in the bank. St. Jude’s helps advance the treatment and prevention of catastrophic diseases in children. U.S. News & World Report ranked it the #1 children’s cancer hospital and it’s the only Comprehensive Cancer Center that’s devoted solely to children. We’re also giving away cool stuff!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spread the word!!
