Valentines day and jewelry go hand in hand, or at least that’s what the TV is always telling me. So the timing is perfect on this one, with cupid looming just a few days away! One of the perks of blogging is getting the opportunity to do product reviews every now and then. Some products are cool and useful, some are, uhh..interesting…and every now and then I come across something that I just ADORE.
This is one of them.
A friend of my friend UL-Tara (crazy ultra running mom) contacted me and asked if I would review one of her handmade jewelry pieces. I absolutely agreed, as I love to support hard working mamas, and Liz of Creative Input by Liz got to work making me a custom piece. The only input I gave her was my preference of a necklace over a bracelet, and she came up with this beautiful piece, allowing me to declare to the world “I LOVE TO RUN” (as if you didn’t know that already, heh heh). Handmade and hand stamped from enameled, hammered copper, along with my boys birth stones for accents. Now, as I’m sure you’ve gathered a time or two, I’m a bit of a tomboy. This necklace is the perfect balance between brawn and beauty. It’s gorgeous, but not too dressy. But if you prefer dressy? Liz has that too. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more. Her work is classy and artistic, and incredibly original. You can just see the craftsmanship, quality work, and love that Liz puts into her jewelry.
I have been making jewelry for about three years and taking an awesome class in jewelry fabrication for two. The class is where I learn to set bezels, make rings, enamel and a lot more techniques to make unique pieces. I love to shop garage and estates sales to get and re-use (upcycle is the trendy term) jewelry and furniture. Recycling in any form is one of my passions in life. Combining the ideas from class, my own experimentation, and frequent garage/estate sale shopping is why my etsy site has many personalities! If someone wants a custom piece, I have samples on my site and they can reach me @ http://www.creativeinputbyliz.etsy.com/ and “convo” me.
I’m married, two kids (Brendan, 5, and Audrey, 3). I am a former special education teacher who taught middle school children who are profoundly handicapped (autism, MR, CP, etc.). The kids are great and I felt like I was making a contribution to people who needed my care.
I am proudly spiritual and believe that my creative input comes from God.
AND Liz generously offered a second necklace for one of my lucky readers! It’s this one to the right, another “Love to Run” piece.
