Here’s the story
She loved to run and exercise,
but despite that,
bum bum bum….
on the TV screen together.
Yes that’s right, I got my hands on a copy of Insanity today. I’ve wanted it since the day it came out and I’ve spent many a late night drawn to the infomercial like a mosquito drawn to the bug zapper. ZZZZZ. Sorry BeachBody, but in my mind three payments of $39.95 = half a car payment, groceries for two weeks, or better yet, a marathon entry fee and then some. So as you can imagine, I never did call the 1-800 number. Even though I really, really wanted to. REALLY BAD.
I started with the warm up. Easy enough. Got into the switch kicks. Kept up with the two uber-fit sweaty folks on the TV screen . Thanked myself for incorporating all of those high knees in my Tue/Thurs class.
And then I got my a$$ handed to me.
Suicide Jumps = code name for burpees. We all know how miserable those bad boys are. And, uhhh, push up jacks? Not only was I not very coordinated as to when to lower, when to jack, and when to push back up, but I just simply couldn’t do them, period. I face-floored. What’s that you ask? Well it’s just like the infamous internet *facepalm*. Except in utter exhaustion and disgust at my weakness, my face met the floor.
My starting point:
Switch Kicks 125
Power Jacks 46
Power Knees 74
Power Jumps 25
Globe Jumps 8
Push Up Jacks 8
Low Plank Oblique 50
Shaun T, don’t take this the wrong way, but I think I love you. You are exactly what I need in my life right now. I love running, don’t get me wrong, but it hasn’t been giving me what I need. I haven’t felt very *fit* lately. I’m really sorry I didn’t think you were worth the equivalent of a marathon entry fee (and then some) but I was clearly, clearly mistaken. Forgive me?
So hows about you and I set a date for tomorrow (and the next 59 days). I promise to “dig deeper” when you tell me to, we’ll grab a protein smoothie after, I’ll lay off the processed foods, and for our 2 month anniversary, you can take away about 5-8% of my body fat.
Deal? Good. Looking forward to it 🙂
