I really dislike winter. Really, truly, absolutely hate being cold. It’s a wonder I was raised in Vermont, with the amount of loathing I have for temperatures below 50 degrees. Growing up, I went to an elementary school that took the students skiing every Friday. Now mind you, I moved to this state in 5th grade, so while my friends were in ski-runners group level 5 & 6 (good, and really good) I was in ski-runners “1” with the kindergarteners. To this day, I remember tumbling off the chairlift the first time I rode up, and then proceeding to ski right into the bushes. It was all downhill from there, both literally and figuratively. Now, this is not the reason I dislike the snow so much, but it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth, and thus I never really saw the “fun” in skiing.
If nothing else, it will be GREAT endurance/cross training for the Ultra Beast…and that 50 mile ultra (did I mention that yet?)
Now if it will only snow… (yes, I really just said that. I’m just as shocked as you are. )
Question of the day: Have you ever entered a race or signed yourself up for an event you absolutely dreaded, just to push yourself out of your comfort zone?
