Humbled, yet Happy. Beach 2 Battleship race report.

Humbled, yet Happy. Beach 2 Battleship race report.

Isn't it ironic that my slowest, most miserable marathon, could turn out to be the best race experience I've ever had? Well it did, and it gave me a much needed wake up call proving that the BEST races aren't always your fastest. The story is long, but one I'd love to share, if you have the time. Friday, younger sister Cathy and I made the short (about an hour and a half) drive up to Continue reading →

What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.

What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.

If nothing else, this less than ideal marathon last weekend has certainly re-lit the "I LOVE RUNNING" fire under my booty.I'm not sure how the people at the Ulman Cancer Fund got their hands on these pictures, but I'm sooo happy they did. One of the pace leader's (girl in the front, next to me, with the orange visor) Dad was standing on top of a bridge somewhere around mile 12, taking pictures. So Continue reading →

Baltimore Marathon 2009 – the good, the bad, and the disgusting

Baltimore Marathon 2009 – the good, the bad, and the disgusting

"Run when you can, walk when you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up." ~Dean Karnazes 2009 Baltimore Marathon 1st 13.1 split: 2:08:11 2nd 13.1 split: 2:52:35 chip time: 5:00:46 For those of you simply interested in my review of the Baltimore Marathon itself, here you go: I would recommend it. Hilly, and not always the most scenic route (i.e. we ran through numerous neighborhoods Continue reading →

The Runner’s Guide to CBD: How Runners Can Benefit from Cannabidiol

Unless you've been hiding under a rock (with no internet access under said rock), you've probably noticed the massive uptick in mentions about CBD oil.  CBD products are, without a doubt, "trendy" right now, and as such, it seems a million companies have come out of the woodwork to hop on the CBD … [Read More...]

The Weekly Chaos Report: 2/19/19

One of the more identifying signs that I am definitely getting older is the fact that almost daily I comment on the date.  As in "February 19th! WHERE HAS THE MONTH GONE!"  My clients at the gym almost always agree with these sentiments, and thankfully haven't pointed out the fact that I've been … [Read More...]

The “Find the Time” Comparison Trap, and Why I Hate It.

The “Find the Time” Comparison Trap, and Why I Hate It.

Due to the nature of - well - my life, I spend a decent amount of time on either the treadmill or the stair climber.  I'm not ashamed, I no longer refer to them as "dreadmills" or any of that garbage, they are simply tools in my training arsenal.  That said, there's no denying that they can be a bit … [Read More...]
