Thanks for all the support with my woe is me pitty party post yesterday. Sometimes you’ve got to hit the bottom before you can pick yourself up and move forward, you know? And I’ll get there, I know I will.
So all I can do is move forward, and move forward is what I’m doing. And here on this blog, that includes a bunch of product reviews I’ve fallen way behind on, giveaways I never announced winners to , and new giveaways to be won. What runner doesn’t love the shwag?!
Today’s topic: Books! First up:
The Ultimate Runner
by Tom Green and Amy Hunold-VanGundy
I’m sure you’ve seen reviews of this one a few times in the blog world already. But did those other reviews tell you to check out page 11? No? Well let me show it to you.
How to Get Moving–and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity
by Sarah Bowen Shea and Dimity McDowell
This book. These women. Wow, how do I even say it. I feel like they stole the words right out of my brain. I feel like Sarah and Dimity could show up on my front step, I could invite the in, and we would chat like old friends, or long lost sisters separated at birth. I could relate to every single thing I read in that book, from Dimity’s pie charts depicting “What I think about on a typical road run ” ( “10 percent convincing myself I do really want to hear ‘Beautiful Day’ by U2 for the bazillionth time“) to Sarah’s admitting she envisioned her facebook status update saying “Sara Bowen Shea is a Boston Qualifier” as a motivational tool (I’ve totally done that!). I probably looked like an idiot while reading that book, with all of the head nodding in agreement, laughing out loud, and sighing when they hit one of my mommy-runner heart strings.
I really don’t know what else to say other than if you are a running mom, you need to read this book. If you have a wife who is a running mom, you need to read this book. If you know a running mom, make sure she reads this book. It is a great read, not only for us experienced jog stroller pushers, but moms who may want to dabble in running but just don’t know where to start (plenty of great tips for newbies!)
And while you are at it, check out their website:Run Like a Mother, or check out their facebook page . You won’t be sorry!!
oh, and that giveaway…
So remember back in, oh, MARCH, when I posted a give-away for an awesome towel from http://www.inperspire.com/ ? Well I forgot to ever post a winner. Better late than never right? (I’m really bad with this giveaway stuff!) So without further a-do (haha)…the winner out of 61 comments…
Coach Kati! http://glutenfreetri.wordpress.com/ I’ll be emailing you shortly!!
Tune in tomorrow for some product reviews and a *new* giveaway (that won’t take me 4 months to pick the winner, I promise this time!)
Happy Running (I mean it!)
