I loved the response to last nights blogpost. So as it turns out, you all are very opinionated when it comes to the whole “ipod-run with it or run without it?” controversy. I really did enjoy reading all of your comments. And it’s funny, because I agree with ALL of you. Yes, it is certainly much safer for you and the people around you to run without the distraction of music blaring in your ears. I don’t think anyone is denying that. But just like it is safer to not talk on the cell phone while driving (or eat, drink, sing karaoke at the top of your lungs, hand the kid in the backseat a sippy cup, or anything else that may distract you while driving), and it’s safer to grow your own produce than eat the pesticide covered stuff from the grocery store…etc etc you get the point….sometimes we all take calculated risks out of comfort and convenience.
“Stepping outside the comfort zone is the price I pay to find out how good I can be. If I planned on backing off every time running got difficult I would hang up my shoes and take up knitting” -Desiree Davila
It was a sign from the runner gods. A sign that says “suck it up, buttercup!’
So why on earth have I set silly limits on my running over a tiny neon blue piece of technology? I love you ipod, but you don’t do the running. I do. You are staying home this weekend.
