The Scion is about to burst at it’s poor little welded seams. The ultimate test in de-cluttering your life of material possessions: Geoff and I will now attempt to move 1,000 miles away with only the number of items we can fit into my tiny car. This feat has so far been equal parts hilarious, frustrating, and cathartic. Clothes, shoes, running gear, toiletries, kitchen supplies, and the giant sleeping back that will serve as our bed until we get around to purchasing furniture. I am both terrified and thrilled, but either way we hit the road at 4:30 am tomorrow morning.
The next post you read from me will be written in the sunny Palmetto State (here’s hoping it’s sunny, moving in the rain is never fun). My coworkers and I are going to miss our amazing Vermont spring/summer office, but I’m confident that the sandy beach will bring me equal writing inspiration.
I want to wax poetically about my time here in Vermont (a.k.a. emotional overshare post!) and I indeed will soon, but the chaos of moving has all but quelled my writing creativity for today. Soooo…in the meantime:
1) I’m excited to announce that I was asked to be an ambassador for the All American Marathon. While trails are more my jam these days, I truly fell in love with this race and the city of Fayetteville, NC when we ran the marathon this past March (review HERE), and I’m honored to represent this incredible event. You’ll be hearing more about this in the future, but stay tuned for more details and likely registration discount codes. It’s a flat, fast early spring race in the Carolinas…so New England friends, if you are looking for an escape from the cold, come visit & run with us. (The rest of you non- New Englanders should come too.)
2) This past month I started working as a contributor to the new site HealthyWay.com. The website is still undergoing it’s official launch, but here you will find articles from a multitude of fitness experts and enthusiasts regarding care, balance, nature, body, fuel, and mind, geared towards an audience that is enthusiastic about all things healthful. I’m really enjoying writing for Healthy Way so far, as it allows me to explore new topics AND write with a little bit of sass and snark, which is a very different and fun tone from a number of other platforms I’ve written for in the past. You can read all of my current articles (and new ones, once I write them) at this link: http://www.healthyway.com/author/heather-gannoe
3) This morning I found out that Ultra Runner Podcast included my Infinitus report in their Ultramarathon Daily News (and thus, out of good social media karma, I will happily reciprocate and share their post on Relentless Forward Commotion). I’m super stoked because I’m a TOTAL greenhorn in the world of Ultra Running, so I’m flattered they enjoyed my recap and didn’t just point and laugh while shouting “check out what this rookie did!”. Then again, maybe they did point and laugh, but I was happy to be able to spread the good word of the Endurance Society and their amazing events none the less.
That’s all for today. I’ve got to finish packing, and go supervise two grown men, one in booty shorts and a sombrero, flying a kite.
